It’s safe to say that I never thought I’d call myself a business woman. I wanted to be able to say that “someday”, but in my heart of hearts, I genuinely didn’t think it would ever be “my thing”. (Let’s take a second here to point out that my mindset and self-talk has come a loooong way!) I thought I’d marry young, be a stay-at-home mom and not work many days in my life. (note: I do not think there is anything wrong with that life! And someday, I do hope to be a work-from-home momma.)
After graduating college in Arkansas, I worked for the summer at a the physical therapy clinic where I had worked during my Junior and Senior years and I lived with my grandparents (such a wonderful experience that I wouldn’t trade for the world, BTW!). Then…I did something SO out of my comfort zone and I moved to Washington, DC on August 17th, 2013 to pursue “an adventure”. I moved to D.C. with two suitcases, the promise of an unpaid internship on “The Hill”, and the hope of something new (oh, and because my best friend lived there and talked me into it!).
From there…it’s a typical story of cramming three people into a 500 square foot studio apartment, stalking LinkedIn like my life depended on it, going to any interview I could get, surviving on whatever we could think to stuff into a Pillsbury crescent roll, blowing through my savings, and occasionally “treating myself” to a new shade of CoverGirl lipstick. Oh yes. I was living the life. Eventually, I got a job working as a receptionist at a labor law firm (after specifically NOT wanting anything “law related” in my own words) and was promoted after just three months to Litigation Paralegal. Almost three years (and three desks) and another promotion later (I’ve got my own office with a DOOR now!!! #yas), I’m at the same firm, and thankful to be a part of helping people the way that we do!
That being said…shortly into my new life in D.C., I realized, “the corporate ladder” wasn’t all I had previously hoped it would be and I genuinely wanted to be my own boss. I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit that was smothered by the world a little bit somewhere along the way, and something about this city sparked that passion in my heart again. After a couple failed attempts at things I didn’t love and through a few turns of very clearly God-ordained events, I was connected with what is now the company that I own my own business through – Plexus Worldwide.
I really believe that God has our best interest at heart. I think he drops things into our laps that He knows we need, even when we don’t know we need (or want) them. That’s what happened with my business. I didn’t see this coming. I definitely wasn’t looking for an opportunity like this one at all. And truthfully, I was resistant to the whole idea for a solid 6 months before truly giving it a chance.
So this company – you may have heard of it. It’s catching and spreading like wildfire and this is an incredibly exciting time to be involved with the company. We are THE supplement line for improving gut health. We are incredibly focused on tackling what your body is struggling with from the inside out. It’s all about addressing root issues and that’s where the goodness happens. As if our mission with the products wasn’t enough – this business opportunity is transforming lives. It allows people may not otherwise have the opportunity, to break out of a life of debt and financial stress. We don’t offer a magic pill or a key to being rich, but we do offer hope for a better future.
Our trademarked tagline is, “What if this could change everything?”
Goodness, is that a loaded question!!!
I certainly did not ask myself that question when I first jumped on board. Honestly, I really just hoped to make $100-$200 a month. If I could do that, I’d be golden. Bless it. I was aiming for one tiny star in a galaxy full of giant opportunities that I didn’t even know existed.
Now, just a couple years into this business, my whole life has been changed. My outlook, perspective, mindset, quality of life, capacity for dreaming, confidence, ambition, passion, and my heart have all grown bigger with each day that I’ve been involved with this company and our giant mission to change lives, one #healthygut at a time.
I started out as a girl with no (successful) business building experience and a desire to make a difference. Jesus took that desire and has used this to mold me into who He has called me to be while simultaneously fulfilling my wildest dreams. There’s no life I’d rather have than this crazy, pink-drinkin’ life and I would seriously relish the opportunity to tell you more about it! All you have to do is ask!
